Greetings and thank you for visiting!
Born in Florida, and currently residing in Indiana, my artistic quest has been quite the journey so far.
In high school, I would sell curiously structured chibi portrait drawings at local anime conventions.
While in the Navy, I was scolded for drawing by one of my bosses.
As a toddler, my daughter would mark “X” on the sketches that she may have thought were acceptable locations for treasure.
Overall, the stones paving my path have been chiseled with thoughtful resilience.
Presently, I am developing illustrations, paintings and drawings for independent projects while seeking creative collaborations for those in need of illustrations for their project’s vision. Especially for writers and game designers.
My work is influenced and inspired by other fantasy illustrators; science fantasy comic book artists; historical painters from the symbolist and art nouveau periods; and contemporary surrealist figurative painters.
Versed in digital and traditional methods, the goal of my practice is to design and highlight the emotional qualities of the depicted narrative. Whether it be illustration or fine art piece, my lived experiences are ingrained into every mark made.
So if you’re ready to begin your quest to visualize your world, reach out to me with your commission inquiries on my contact page.
By my hand,
Crystal M Cain
